  • the three 'r's...rock, reggae and racks... more from the well of e-mail hell

i find myself enjoying an overcast day off, in a Chicago freshly dusted with yet another overnight snow... later, this afternoon, i'm off to band rehearsal,  but first i need to map out my strategy for the month, which is heavily booked... the ad (is that mad?) life keeps me hopping, while my boss vacations in Puerto Vallarta...
next weekend, my daughter, Diana, celebrates her 20th birthday...

no, seriously! my little girl, who loved to be carried facing forward, rather than looking back over my shoulder...

always ready with a helping hand, or, (ahem) a digit...

a girl who developed and continues to evolve her own fashion sense,

with a hunger for knowledge- always picking my brain,

is now a grown woman with her own agenda, and grown-up sense of taste... my God, how the time flies!

also, this month, our cat, Lola, turns 20 years old...

this month, on the 30th, me and my NDY band mates

(actual photo, shot by Larry, from the wall of fame at LnL Recording Studios)

will sojourn back to LnL Recording Studios,

for another session with recording engineering genius, Larry Kriz

soon after, we will begin the arduous task of deciding on the order of each album's content and pondering their release dates...

    ***********************

the day after our recording session, is Easter Sunday, when after church, i will be :

in other music news, i received word from my reggae band's producer that one of the albums i had a hand in getting finished is now in wide release! this, if you don't already know him, this is Frankie Paul...

Frankie Paul's new tribute album, "Frankie Paul-Respect- Original Songs From Dennis Brown"

has within the last two weeks been released on Boomshot Records, and has been picked up by Traffic Entertainment... my producer thanked me, for my patience and loyalty, as i was the only one who had his back during the company's lean years, following an ongoing war over ownership of the Chi Town Posse's  "Positive Vibes" CD,

which, you all know, i played guitars on, and even co-arranged one of it's tracks... now, when he gets checks for Frankie's new album's sales, I will get paid... sweet... so worth the wait...

    *********************
gotta go do a bit of pre-rehearsal practice, so i hit the ground running this evening... be excellent to each other... and remember...

    peace, Animal

  • for the 4th time, Laurel will be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer... i hope you can help support her again, as she and her team mates march on June 1st and 2nd, 2013... if you can't make a donation, there are many other ways to help, like being a booster, cheerleading at one of the many checkpoints along the route, or even hosting your own fund raising event... here's a link to Laurel's page... http://info.avonfoundation.org/goto/laureldobose
thanks, in advance, for your love, and support... and, oh yeah, "Save Second Base!"... peace, Animal

  • wanna live longer and better?.. more from the well of e-mail hell

According to AARP'S 10 tips for better health, you should:
1 throw a party- social connections can help you live longer
2 adopt a pet- pet owners have healthier hearts
3 eat dark chocolate- flavinoids and anti oxidants, nuff said
4 savor your coffee- it may reduce the risk of Heart Disease, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's
5 Raise a glass of wine or beer- they're both heart healthy
6 Have sex- endorphins relieve pain and boost immune system response
7 listen to your fave music-it increases blood flow, which is good for your heart
8 taking a nap- improves mood, alertness and learning
9 go 'au naturel'- outdoor settings improve immune response and improves blood glucose levels
10 get off the soapbox- lose the triclosan anti-bacterial soaps. they don't work and could lead to antibiotic resistant bacteria...
so, to help in implementing these ideas, we're gonna host a back yard chocolate and wine orgy. we'll take a short nap afterwards and go for coffee in the morning, without washing up... sorry...the dogs have to stay outside!
